About Me

My career has included diverse roles as a newspaper journalist, medical writer, public relations manager, and software engineer.   The common thread in my life’s work is to listen, synthesize information and help others gain new insights. My life experiences ultimately led to my path as a therapist. I believe in helping people discard old belief systems, find their truth, and fulfill their dreams.

My own life has included adversity and major life transitions, which led me to a stronger sense of self and personal achievement. As an outgrowth of my experiences, I am drawn to working with people who are open to learning, growing and making positive changes.

I started in the chemical dependency counseling field in 2003. I have experience with group and individual counseling and mental health issues. I work within the following specialty areas:

  • People in recovery from addiction and codependency
  • LGBTQ individuals
  • Presentations and workshops for professionals and general audiences

I particularly enjoy working with:

  • Adults seeking to develop their passion and interests
  • People on spiritual paths beyond traditional religion
  • Adults willing to let go of wounds from their pasts and ready to create self fulfillment

I studied addiction counseling at the Institute of Chemical Dependency Studies to become a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor, LCDC. I furthered my education at St. Edward's University, where I earned a Master of Arts in Counseling.

Currently, I am completing my internship as a Licensed Professional Counselor Intern, LPC Intern, under the supervision of Travis Sebera, LPC-S. In addition to my private practice, I work as a Program Counselor at La Hacienda's Solutions Intensive Outpatient Program. I previously worked for The Right Step and Austin Recovery. I have been involved in addiction recovery since 1992.
